Arizona Tennis Classic Stars Support Phoenix Children’s Hospital During Tournament Week

PHOENIX, AZ – While the action on the courts of the Phoenix Country Club is reaching fever pitch, some of the tournament’s biggest stars took a meaningful timeout today to serve the local community.

Two-time defending champion Nuno Borges, along with fan-favorites Zizou Bergs and Arthur Cazaux, visited Phoenix Children’s Hospital to spend time with young patients and their families. The visit is a cornerstone of the 2026 Arizona Tennis Classic’s mission to blend elite professional sport with significant community impact.

Smiles and Inspiration

The players traded their rackets for high-fives and stories, visiting various wards to offer encouragement to children currently undergoing treatment. For Borges, the tournament’s most decorated player, the visit was a chance to give back to the city that has embraced him.

“Tennis is what we do, but moments like these are what truly matter,” said Borges. “Seeing the strength and resilience of these kids is incredibly humbling. If we can bring a little bit of joy to their day, that’s the biggest win of the week.”

Tennis with a Purpose

Since 2023, the Arizona Tennis Classic—a premier ATP Challenger 175 event—has raised more than $500,000 for local causes. This year, the tournament has designated a portion of all proceeds to support Phoenix Children’s, directly aiding their life-saving research and patient care programs.

The visit highlights the tournament’s evolution from a world-class sporting event into a vital philanthropic engine for the Valley. By bringing stars like Cazaux and Bergs to the hospital, the event creates a bridge between the high-energy atmosphere of the ATP tour and the quiet bravery found within the hospital’s walls.

How to Support

Fans attending the tournament between now and March 15 are contributing directly to this cause. Every ticket sold helps the Arizona Tennis Classic reach its fundraising goals for Phoenix Children’s.

“The AZTC delivers high-energy matches and valuable ranking points, but our commitment to raising funds for local causes like Phoenix Children’s is the heart of what we do.”
